Why does hunger feel different at different times of the day? For example, the way my stomach growls when I'm hungry for breakfast is different from the way my stomach growls when I'm hungry for dinner. What causes this?

Diurnal variation of steroid hormones. They are often at a peak in the morning and the evening. You are probably indifferent to lunch.

In the morning, your stomach is totally empty, so hunger feels different than when your digestive tract is still busy at dinner time.
