HD problems
Asked by: Tilly49 from -
I got message that my HD is damaged and since I had a spare one in another PC I formated that one in one of the computers. I put windowx XP Pro 2008, Microsoft Office 2007 on it and everything worked fine in my computer. When I wanted to put that HD in the PC with the damaged HD (I removed that one) the PC doesn't recognise it. The screen stays black with cursor. What can I do?

You need to install Windows XP on the PC you will use it on, if yoiu install it on another machine it will probably not have the correct drivers.
Please take out the damage hard drive, plug the new hard drive in and see if it goes into Windows (You will more than likely get a blue screen of death) if it doesn't work reinstall windows by booting with the Windows CD in the CD/DVD Rom Drive

You cannot insall an operating on a hard drive and then move the hard drive to another machine and expect it to work! The new PC has a different motherboard, CD/DVD drive, memory, processor etc. Format the HD in NTFS. Make sure it is the master hard drive. Install in the PC you want to use it. Insert the XP CD and boot up. Now install XP by following the on screen instructions. Any more questions just ask.
