The simple answer to this question is the Romans killed Jesus...because the Jews as an occupied nation could not exactly punish or condemn a man to death so they conspired to get Jesus punished by accusing him of using perverse doctrines and blasphemy...and calling himself the "King of the Jews".

When Jesus came to the earth he denouces and chastise the religious leaders by expose their wrong doing.:
Jesus exclaims: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!” First, he proclaims woe on them because they cleanse “the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside they are full of plunder and immoderateness.” So he admonishes: “Cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that the outside of it also may become clean.”
