The best exercise is any that you will do.
Running is best and fastest, but has drawbacks for some people.
At 7 minute mile running we will burn more than 10 *calories per minute and looking at most runners on the street many may deduce that this must be the best exercise to lose weight.
Aerobic exercises include swimming, walking fast, jogging and bicycling.

The best exercise for burning calories is cardio-aerobic. Jogging, cycling, poer-walking, swimming, aerobic dancing or general aerobic workouts. However, strength-training is also important to increase muscle-fat ratio.

A nutritonally balanced diet, in combination with cardio and weight training is the quickest and safest route to a leaner physique. Running is not a good idea for people who are excessively over weight. It is taxing on the knee joints. A calorie controlled diet, which includes alot of complex carbohydrates such as wholemeal pasta, corn, yam, pitta bread, protiens like, fish, chicken, turkey and fresh fruit. Break your meals into small portions and eat 6 small meals spread through out the day as this speeds up metabolism...
