fraud marriage

I married someone 2 years and 7 months ago. When we got married we worked right away on getting him a lawyer to get his green card. Three months after we married he got his provisional green card. A year into our marriage he became very distant and we began to have problems. It is now 2yrs and 7 months and he has his permanent residency. He now has told me that he is gay and knew about it 1 year and half ago, but did not say anything to me because he couldn't risk going back to Russia. He has dragged me down in his deception and I have endured 1½ of emotional abuse and not having a real marriage. He told me that his lawyer advised him that if I wanted to divorce before the permanent green card was in effect he could have filed a spousal abuse report against me. Does this sort of thing happen where the spouse who is sponsoring the green card has no rights? I live in California.

This sort of thing happens all the time, and there's not much that can be done about it. The marriage was legal, and you agreed to it! I hate this kind of deception too! He used you, and you had to suffer the consequences. But he didn't break any laws! Move on with your life and make sure you nail him for alimony in the divorce proceedings! Good luck!
