Justice John Roberts is the current Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. He was nominated in 2005 to replace deceased Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Along with Justice Samuel Alito, he was appointed by President George W. Bush.

John Roberts is the current Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. Interestingly, his career started as a law clerk to then Justice William Rehnquist (from whom Roberts inherited the Chief Justice position following Rehnquist's death). He served as U.S. Solicitor under the first President Bush (41), and after serving in private practice for a short time was appointed by the current President Bush (43).
