Endometriosis on the right kidney
|
I am 41 yrs old. When I was 29 I had a complete hysterectomy due to bad endometriosis. 3 years ago I began having extremely bad pain in my right kidney. At first they believed kidney stones were the cause. 1 yr and a half ago I had surgery to remove possible kidney stones, once in surgery none were found. One month later my right kidney went into failure and they had to do an emergency surgery to put in stents to try and help the kidney function again. This was a success, however the pain did not stop. I was sent to a kidney specialist who has now diagnosed me with endometriosis on my right kidney. They are currently treating the pain, but say there is nothing that can be done at this point to treat it, I am being monitored by the kidney specialist at a renal clinic every 6 months for any changes, for they say at this time there is nothing that can be done and chances of the condition worsening are slim. My question is. Can this get worse and where should I go from here? Also I always thought that after having a complete hysterectomy endometriosis could not come back. Please can someone answer my questions.

I would treat you with a GnRH analogue assuming that your ovaries were left behind (it sounds like it). If that helps then I would remove your ovaries and place you on ERT.
