Can one person build a web site that compete with the big ones?

Well, I have an idea for a great web site at my country. The only thing that is bother me is that I can't play in the field with big ones. They have a lot of money, lots of workers, and I'm alone only have idea that need my attention. It's scares me a bit, because I want it to be one of the top 10 web site in my country. Is it possible to do that all alone? I know what to do and how, I just need the time and probably the courage.

We have all heard stories abut one person operations on a website that made it big and their owners became wealthy. True, it was easier before the dot com bust, but it still happens. You never know unless you try. The more skill you have, the less time it takes, but you can learn. Also keep in mind that it is a world wide web. Your competition is all the world, but you can still make it. Sometimes you have to try more than one idea before you find one that works. There is nothing wrong with that....

If you have a good idea then go for it. Your determination and courage will see you through, these are qualities that come from within, and will be there when you need them.Love your picture, used to watch Barbar all the time. The nosey pelican neighbour made me laugh,reminds me of the neighbours we have living next to us now.!

Find people that are willing to help you. Believe it or not, if the idea is that great, people will support it! Take my site for example... I have a professional graphics designer, a professional scripter, and a free hosting because people supported my Non-Profit website.
So, all in all, just work hard at it, spread the word about your site, and don't be afraid to ask for help....
