how to negotiate worker's comp. case without having to hire a lawyer?
Asked by: mary123 from -
my husband is almost at settlement stages with his workmans comp. and was left with a permanent brain impairment, the doctor's gave my husband a permanent impairment rating. How do we educate ourselves on what's fair and how we can insure they are not trying to get over on him just because we are handling the case ourselves, without an attorney. Please give us advise on how to better educate ourselves without having to hire a lawyer and know he we've done the right thing. signed desperatley seeking legal help.

This depends on the case you have, how much money is involved and whether or not you have witnesses or proof that your case is real. Easy, clear-cut cases may be resolved without a lawyer. But even this depends on the state you are in.
Without a lawyer you are at a big disadvantage and can expect to be taken advantage of. In a lot of states you should even be careful about the lawyer you hire because fees have no regulation at all.
