Most seat sales are on Tuesdays and Thursdays as long as it's not during the holidays.

In general the cheapest in order are Tuesday, Wednesday, Monday and Thursday. But it changes all the time.
So go to Hotwire.com and you can check the cheapest days to fly for any period 30 days or less for the length of trip you desire. Even the trip lengths can be flexible. For me this is an indispensable tool for planning my trips....
