Not using the full airline ticket

I can buy a ticket from Philadelphia to Santa Ana for $166 with a connection in Minneapolis. If I want to stay in Minneapolis, is there a penalty for not using the connection to Santa Ana?

It depends on what airline you use. Some charge you for having to remove your baggage others won't
