It's best to buy the campervan before you leave home and arrange to pick it up in Alaska. Plan your trip by mapping it out, checking out campgrounds which are open, distances between places you want to see, etc. Program them into your GPS system. (Get maps as a back-up system) Then make up a budget so you won't run out of money half way through your trip - gas, food, campground fees etc. Sounds like a fun trip if it's well-planned. Get international cell phone service in advance. Have fun!

We have lots of campgrounds and parks where you can camp. An overnight space will be a few dollars and include a shower.

If you get stuck in the boonies with no campground in sight don't be afraid to ask a farmer if you can park your van on his pasture. He'll probably ask you park near the house and let you use a bathroom for a shower. If you had some little gift you could give him as you leave in the morning, even a decal from you country, he will appreciate it. Take some pictures of him and his family, then send prints after you get home. They'll be in the family album forever.
