NEW CAR WARRANTY
Asked by: saucoin from -
SUV: Lexus 2004 RX330
Warranty: 48 months or 50,000 which ever comes first

I have maintained the car as Lexus has outlined. If you own a Lexus, you know the scheduled maintenance, you cannot leave there without paying $600 or more. If you get your oil changed at Lexus, you can't get out of there without paying $100, so that is almost 3x's as much as a regular place. I have 30,000 miles, car went out of warranty in March. New tires put on at 20,000 miles. Starting in Jan two tires starting going low, having to put air in every 3 days. Nothing wrong with tires. To find out, not by Lexus, the rims are corroding. Took to Lexus last week. They will not cover under warranty. Cost $2,000 - They have now decided to split - I say NO. On all scheduled maintenance, it states they checked wheels, tires for wear and pressure. If they did, they would have seen corrosion. 4th car purchased from them - Loyal customer. Been to GM. Never heard of rims corroding on such a new well-taken care of car. WHAT CAN I DO? You would think in this economy, and me buying a new car next year, because the body style is changing, they would pay the $1,000 to keep a loyal customer. I could go to the Owner but he is a client of my firm's (CPA) and I don't want to put him in a bad position or lose him as a client. We care about our clients even though we are the largest CPA firm on Florida's Southwest Coast. My problem is why should I buy new rims, when in the first place they should not be corroding, this is not normal wear and tear, I am purchasing a new car next year and Lexus should stand behind their product. WHAT LEGAL RIGHTS DO I HAVE AND WHAT WOULD YOU DO? ANY SAMPLE LETTERS TO WRITE TO LEXUS? Thank you.

I would contact the Lexus Customer Statisfaction Department at 1-800-255-3967. Also, in your owner's manual, there should be an address where you can also write to Lexus in California.

I totally agree with you and I have never heard of rims rusting unless the vehicle is really old. I know there are hidden things covered under warranty that the dealerships do not tell you about. I would call another Lexus d...
