Can I use vinegar on a carpet that was cleaned with an amnonia/water/vinegar sol
Asked by: jackay from -
I just cleaned my carpet with a solution of 4 parts water, 1 part amnonia and 1 part vinegar. I now want to soak the area with a solution of equal parts water and vinegar to get rid of dog urine odor. Is this safe? Somewhere I saw where it said not to use vinegar on a carpet that had been cleaned with amnoina. Some of the sites say to use vinegar, then amnonia, then vinegar again. Which is correct? How can I get rid of the amnonia in the carpet in order to use the vinegar?

A main 'aroma' component is the urea portion of the urine. The thing to remember is that when urea breaks down outside of the body, it normally produces ammonia. Cleaning with ammonia actually reinforces that this is the area to use!
After the vinegar, use baking soda.

I use sugarsoap. It does everything around the house and is heaps cheaper than all the fancy products.
