How do I completely replace bath/shower valve/fixtures?
|
My whole house was re-plumbed through the attic with PVC Gold pipe. In the bathroom they attached the PVC to the old copper pipes in the shower wall(I have a door behind this area for accessing the plumbing ;-).. I know I need to replace these 50 yr old, now broken valves. 1 hot handle, separate on the wall from 1 cold and 1 for the handle that switches the water up to the shower head. Plumber wants to replace whole pipe area for $900! Can I find replacement valves? If not can I cut out the copper part and connect the pvc up to new fixture units? I did my irrigation system myself. All I need is directions! Book name? Help a single mom trying to get a teenager into college please. floridafriend@earthlink.net

The bad news is that the plumbing fixture companies deliberately make their parts so that you have to go from start to finish with one product. They won't fit together. What you have to do is decide what system to use and go with it all the way.
