Black toenails are usually a sign of injury causing bruised blood to accumulate under the nail. I can also mean that you have a fungal infection - this is treatable, and it does not mean that you are sick!

I kicked things in my house about 4 times in a week and I had a black toenail for months! It fell off after a while and is back to normal now. Have you been kicking anything around your house?
