If an animal causes an accident, does the renter have to repay money to ins. com
|
After my husband grilled, one of his dogs knocked over the grill which cause outside damage to the home. The homeowner has insurance and the fire dept ruled it an accident. The insurance co has settled a claim with the homeowner, but wants us to repay the money. This would not be a problem if the damages had been fixed, but they have not. The homeowner wants us to fix the house, and the insurance co wants us to repay the money they paid the homeowner. Surely, that can't be right. We have been given 15 days to set up payments or the insurance co will issue a judgemnet against us even though they are aware that the damages have not been fixed by the homeowner.

You can either repair the damages, or repay the insurance company - not both! Pick whichever is the cheapest for you! Don't let the homeowner scam you! If you repair the damages, and repay the insurance company, the the homeowner has scammed the insurance company by making them think he paid for repairs. This is an old scam! He'll pocket the money, and he fixes nothing! Don't fall for it!
