Is it better to get an older car with less miles or a newer car with more miles?
Asked by: clsjh6 from -
I'm looking at Honda CRV and my brain is getting VERY confused. All other things being equal (features of safety and convenience), is it better to get a 2004 with 24,000 miles or 2005 with 35,000 miles? The prices are comparable. Or does it really not matter and I can let the color make my choice?

The average miles per year for a vehicle is 15,000 miles so the mileage is reasonable for both. The 2005 should be worth more and if at some point you might want to sell it you would have a one year newer vehicle. If you are going to borrow money to pay for it you will be able to get more loan funds on a 2005 than for a 2004. If financing and resell don't matter to you then go with your color choice.
