Someone put up a sign on one of the freeways a couple of years ago:

Picardie, France: about 8km/5 miles from where the Red Baron Crashed in 1918 and about 16 km/ 10 Miles from where the the worlds first Tank Battle occurred in the same war. Nearby is a Cathedral that's Pure Gothic as well as a 17th century fortress that was described in Victor Hugo's 3 musketeers.

I am from beautiful Upstate New York. I spend most of my time in the Adirondack Mountains about an hour north. I like where I live because I am 2.5 hours from Boston, 2.5 from New York City and 2.5 from Lake Placid. Vermont is only about 30 minutes and is very beautiful. This area is filled with rich history and beautiful old homes. I love being close to big cities but also enjoy seeing the beautiful red barns and corn field just down the road.

I wouldn't call this a hometown but it's where we live at the moment. It's the nastiest, old , horrible, backstabbing, bitchiest small town anyone could imagine. We are moving down south to Albany soon where the countryside and towns are beautiful and the people are NORMAL.
