Logic would lead me to believe that The Pony Express ended in 1861 since Railroads came into their own with the civil war;

Guess-timation that in 1930, 3 years after the first "Talkie" of 1927 was produced, few people would want to pay to return to watching the "silents" very much, and therefore Hollywood immediately recognized the drop in revenues.

...and since the British and the French have this "one upsmanship" thing going on forever, I would venture that the last hanging in the tower of London occurred in 1941 ( so as not to be "Poo-Poo'ed by the French who lopped off their last head publicly* two years earlier )
