Swollen area on back, opened up, excreded blood, black substance

min schnauzer, 7 yrs. Had a bump 3/4" diameter on back for a few days.
Today it opened up, exreeting a small amount of blood and a black substance, part of it was hard, along with a substance that looked like small curd cottage cheese. The whole area 2inch square is still swollen. We have put peroxide on it and squeeze it every 1/2 hour or so.What do you think the problem is.

Sounds like a bacterial infection, which caused the boil (or Furuncle)- black pus is a common indication. Your dog will most likely need antibiotics (topical and/or oral, or intravenous), therefore he should be seen by a vet. He may also need to wear an Elizabethan collar to prevent him from licking the wound and spreading the infection.
I would not advise using hydrogen peroxide, as it tends to sting and break...

After a majority of the pus has been removed from the abscess, a disinfectant solution such as povidone iodine or chlorhexidine is used to further flush the abscess and remove additional pus. After a thorough cleaning, antibiotics are generally prescribed to hasten healing and eliminate infection. Application of warm compresses for about 5-10 minutes 3- 4 times per day to help increase the flow of blood to the area. This in turn will increase the white blood cell population within the abscess, to better fight the infect...

An infection occured you have to visit a Doc or Hospital now or contract gangrene which will cause your arm to be amputated!!!!!
