i am sure that you know my situation. i want to ask my friend out but i dont want to rush things. i have known this friend for a long time and we are good friends. but i dont want to ruin our friendship. so i was wondering if anyone knows if today is the day?

Have you tried putting it over to your friend lightly? Maybe by giving a slight hint to your friend? You yourself should know what you and your friend's relationship is, and to know whether is today the day, I suggest you ask yourself whether you're willing to face the consequences or not (not saying that it will definitely be bad). If willing to do so, then I shall say, "Hell yeah, today's the freakin' day dude! Good luck!".
