I just moved to Amercia from England! Please help me out!
Asked by: Duranie1995 from -
Hi there,

I have just moved to America from England, and so far things aren't going too well. I am in "8th grade" and all the kids are very vicious towards me. I am constantly bullied and teased. I don't know what I did wrong. I tried to be friendly and chat with them, yet I get nothing but told rude things in return. I have been at the school for almost a month. It is mainly the other girls being mean, I just don't get it. What can I do to make them accept me?
Additional Details added (04/24/08):
Will someone please help me out? I just want to know what I can do to befriend someone and "fit" in.

its probably just because you are "different" that they are being really stupid.
Bullying is something schools are now trying to stop. Have you spoken to your parents about this?

It's always rough being in a new place. I used to dance. We had a "jukebox" or "rockola". Everyone would put $ in it & we would dance. Mostly me cause I wasn't afraid of the attention. My point is find something you like & make the most of it you can. Talk to the adults in charge &/or your folks. Somebody's gotta listen. It might get worse b4 it gets better, but they will get tired of messing with you eventually. Please talk to a counselor....

You can't make people accept you. Believe me I've tried. All you can do is be yourself and maybe they will notice you in a positive way. As far as the bullying you need to talk to your principal about their policies on this matter. If he won't help then find others with the same problem and make a petition for other students to sign and form some school policies to put a stop this kind of intimidation. I've been in schools like that and told to suck it up and stop whining that it's a part of life. Living in fear of bull...

Is it bullying or are you being too sensitive?

This is a simple definition of bullying and harassment:

Repeatedly doing or saying something to another person for the purpose of physically hurting (or threatening to physically hurt) OR seriously annoying, alarming or embarrassing that person.
