does anbody know of any free software that lets you edit movies into segments and burn the seprate segments onto a disc

Windows Movie Maker comes with windows. It will most likely be in your start menu, and if not, it will probably be at this path "C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe".

Yes, of course, Windows Movie Maker!!!
It comes installed with Windows :D
If you have difficulty finding it then go to your local drive(normally C drive), program files, and find movie maker there!...
