My sister did exactly the same thing (got her phone soaked) and the phone wouldn't turn on. She took it apart, including taking the battery out, and left it all to dry out naturally. Make sure you haven't damaged any of the parts by using a hairdryer though, hopefully the parts didn't get too hot! But if you leave it all to dry naturally it should work. :-)

Yikes, I think it's a lost caugse now, but the good news is that Verizon is now selling a water proof/shock proof phone, which i personally purchased after
having 2 phones dye on me for the same reasons. After paying about $300.00 for the whole phone deal again, I really recommend purchasing the insurance if you don't get that waterproof phone.

I found some sites that can help you, you could also try taking out the battery and replacing it then disemble the phone and let it dry in the sun make sure the sun is not to strong.

take it apart and try and dry each part seperately,
make sure the contacts on the bettery are not damaged in any way
there is a big chance the screen will be broken but the rest of the phone still works,
this is what happened to mine so it was easier and cheaper just to buy a new handset, the sim still worked

When a cell phone or any other electronic device goes underwater, DON'T turn it on right away. The best way to deal with fixing it is to pull apart the phone, battery and/or whatever else will unclip. Then dry it all out until you see no water and it develops no condensation if left in the sun.
It usually works after that.
In saying that I have fallen into water carrying my phone and drowned it.
