How many times should any person who is caught cheating on AskPedia be allowed before being banned from the AskPedia? OR what do you think is the right thing to do to any person who does cheat? Any odd messages to you? Do you report cheating to AskPedia or would you if you saw it?

If you do not think any cheating is going on say so and your reason/s you do not think so.

Each and every person will get a Thumb Up from me. I WILL select best answer myself NOT based on any Thumb Ups OR date and time posted but on the answer itself.

By cheating I mean anything from asking other users to answer your questions and or survey questions (to get the most answers in the contest that goes on every month--click on $$$ on the top right of this or any page), stuffing the ballot box as I call it with the Thumb Ups, using anothers handle and password to Thumb Up your own answers, these are the ones I know about but there could be more. Some of you might have seen one or more of these going on.

These are general questions and I will NOT be naming names but I want AskPedia to see how the members of AskPedia feel about these questions.

In an email I sent I have requested that AskPedia read ALL answers when this question closes to see how the member feel about the questions I've asked.

For all that do not know this already, the "Highest Rated Answer" is part of AskPedia programming and the ASKER of ANY question has NO control at all on this. Before I give the Thumb Up on each answer I do read each answer and when it comes time to select the Best Answer I will reread each and every answer again (yes I know this is going to take some time to do it) in case additional info has been added to any answer and to refresh myself with each answer. From the answers only--NOT from the date and time, NOT from who posted the answer, NOT how many extra Thumb Ups any person has gotten BUT from the answers ONLY will I make my selection, that way it is fair to each and everyone NOT just one. With me the last answer has the same chance of being selected for Best Answer as all the ones before it

What I want is a honest and fun site. I do NOT think that is asking too much.

For all that are interested:
I do report the unusual and any suspected cheating to AskPedia (which I shorten to AP) (I shorten Thumb Up to TU) for them to check out and take action when needed. Check my other closed questions with rewards and you will see in the last additional details that I thanked AP for taking action on a problem I reported to them. I will continue to report the unusual and suspected cheating for AP to check out.

To all askers:
It is against AskPedia rules to artificially get more answers by asking other members to answer any question or survey. If you do that AP can and does delete the question and/or survey and you risk your membership with AskPedia as this is cheating!

We wanted to clarify and clear up some of the misconceptions in this question from user Cares.

It is not against Askpedia's terms of service to ask friends to answer your questions and survey questions. In fact, we encourage users to promote their questions through their social networks such as Facebook, as well as social bookmarking sites.

What we do consider inappropriate is resorting to spamming techniques to promote your question to total strangers on Askpedia as well as through other channels. There is an important distinction between getting your friends to participate versus getting random strangers to answer your questions via misleading of annoying messages.

Also, the highest rated answer is shown to highlight any answers that have received the highest number of compliments. The asker of the question can choose to factor this into their decision in selecting the best answer. They can also choose to ignore the highest rated answer when they make their decision.

The asker is always in control when it comes to deciding on the best answer. If the asker doesn't take the time to select a best answer, the system will automatically select a best answer based on a number of factors. The number of compliments that a question receives is just one factor out of many that go into selecting the best answer."

"The number of compliments that a question receives is just one factor out of many that go into selecting the best answer."

It is easy to see ONE MAJOR FACTOR in the AUTOMATIC SELECTION of best answer on some question's answers. IF a person with say less than 3 star answer rating answers a question first then a person with a 4 star rating answers the question with the same answer. The person with with the 4 star rating gets AUTOMATICALY SELECTED BEST ANSWER.

Do you think this is FAIR to everyone?

If you do not think it is fair, the ONLY way I see it ever being changed to a fair method of automatic selection is sending an email to AskPedia.

If you are interested in how I feel and how to see for yourself, look on page 7 of my question answers and read the one answer that has 3 comments on it (as of right now).

One cheater IS ONE TOO MANY in my book. If anyone thinks I'm making a mountain out of a mole hill, Please give the number of cheaters you think ANY site should allow!!! 1, 2, 3, OR MORE

These are just general questions I'm asking. One person got mad because I am NOT naming names.

Here is part 2 of the clarification request:
Here is part of an answer I gave asker "Look" on one question she asked "The reason I joined AP was for the fun of answering questions and learning about each subject while finding the answer. The best question I ran across here and answered was about the Tuskegee Institute, a black college, it was the most interesting history I had read in a very long time and I'm white."

This is a fun and enjoyable site the vast majority of the time but there are changes that need to be done to make it a fair and honest site for all members.
--------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------
My thoughts not related to the clarification request:

Some people do NOT think questions like the above should EVER be asked and everytime I hear about that it reminds me of what was going on in a lot of Europe from 1939 to 1945. It is as if they expect me to slap my boot heels together and raise my right arm with fingers extended and say "Heil, mein Führer!", if that is the case, they have a very very very long wait (when a certain very hot location freezes over maybe but highly unlikely even then).

Askpedia has changed their policy instead of of automatic selecting the best answer. Read what AP has posted in the Blog at the bottom of any page. I will reserve my comment on the new system until had time to check it out more which may take some time.

AskPedia is trying to make this a better site!!

I think it depends on the type of cheating. If the person is blatantly cheating by creating multiple accounts, asking and answering his/her own questions, etc. just to win contests they should be banned immediately. This should be pretty easy to detect and you really can't trust those types of people.

There will be cases where people will try to game the system. The difference is that they'll try to bend the rules and try things that fall into a gray area. These people aren't necessary evil, they just like to test the limits.

For example, sharing your questions with your friends and soliciting answers is a gray area. I might be doing it because I want to know what my friends know. However, this could be misconstrued as trying to generate artificial answers to win the contests. I think that in these situations, you have to take it on a case by case basis.

In my opinion, the best way to prevent cheating is for us to all take an interest in monitoring for suspicious behavior and reporting it to Askpedia. If we see something suspicious, we should all report it by flagging the content. It's really in our best interest to make Askpedia a fun, friendly, and helpful resource for all of us.

3 times, that's only because i believe in 3 strikes and your out.

also i think a mark of some sort should be put on a persons profile and beside there answers for a few weeks to a couple of months after caught cheating

I have not seen cheating that i recognized as such but i know it is quite possible because i know if i had such an inclination i could very easily do it myself .

if i saw it i would report it as soon as i found out how

no odd messages here.

Cheating breaks anyone's trust and confidence in the cheater, so how could you give a second chance with a broken confidence? To cheat once is more than enough. Besides, if people are allowed to cheat three times, for example, before being banned, who will avoid to use his/her two free chances to cheat without punishment? Cheating is thought by our parents in our most early childhood, and the establishment encourages cheating whenever the prize for the winner is bigger than the prize awarded for the player's moral values.

The answer to how many times is twice on the legal theory that every dog is entitled to one bite. But once if it is serious.
I have never reported cheating, but I would if I had the statistical evidence of it. My slow machine and dial-up probably do not allow that and I spend most of my time here trying to help by answering questions. But I would do what I could to make this a decent site.
I saw what I thought was cheating twice in the last few days. But that is evidence, not proof.
And I will be going to Europe next week and not taking a computer. (I can hear everybody cheering.) So someone else will have to do the job.
The owner operator of this site is very intelligent and probably knows a lot of what goes on.
Hope things will be fine when I get back.

questioners should responsibly revew their answers. If an answer is right and best and has max compliments, they can let it go auto into best answer. But too many times I've seen totally wrong answers go unreviewed into best choice, some to the part of potential harm in real advice given in Health answer seekers. When these are pulled from knowledge archives, alot of people will follow the mal-advice or see Askpedia as a wreckles or sham advert mech or unknowledgeable and seek other sights. Passage should either be checked before post, or a response for caution to correct by admin should be clearly available. Then all the thumbs up won't make a diff in questions that have an objective answer vs frilly opinion. There is danger in wreckless abandoned answeers that fall thru the cracks into success and propagation. Notice how some answers get thrown onto question as first there with chance to go on to best just from neglect or being sole answer.Sometimes they just answer "Don't Know". Some correlation to the question must be tallied, even if connected in humor. This is a crack through the liberty Askpedia has rung.Remember, archives are stil viable review advert source of recruitment, publicity and sponsorship.(though the dating site service ads are kind of chinc(e)y).By the way, more of you need to flag the obscenity questions and people posting ads for themselves(like the recent Chiropracter from Missouri/Pennsyl. He answered every sport/health/illness query with mention of the specific question content followed by the same template driven lead in to head and neck Chiropracty and his ability to get you in to someone. In case you do not know, this is unethical and illegeal, esp across state lines for stste licensed Med Pros, plus tacky, plus his diversions from serious problems fell into charlatanism. By the way, he was a commission based head hunter, which Boarded Professionals are boarded from participating in and associating with. Simply flag the inappropriate Q or A and click highlight it or select all copy it, go to bottom of that same question screen, select contact us(administration) and an e-mail window pre-addressed will come up. Just put the cursor in field and right click to pull up edit again, or hit edit and select paste, it goes in letter and then hit the window's send, and it's up to them now. 4 simple clicks 15-30 seconds, and AskP. keeps quality and clean.Thanx for the extra moment.

Cheating

With my observations on this cite, there are users who compliments the same user that gives answer to questions. Where as their have been other users who gave answer to the same question. I noticed this on a various of occasions. I have addressed this observation to AP. They couldn't give me a real answer..Why. The one that was receiving the compliment received the best answer for a reward question. The user doesn't compliment non reward question for whom answered the question. Let say that I answered a reward question and I know another AP user (friend, family member, contact) and asked them to compliment (by clicking the "thumb up") the question that I answered this placed me as the highest rate answer. Especially if the "asker" isn't familiar with AP system. I believe that some of us are not really clear on how the system works.

So based on my example this cheating. My eyes are watching for those compliments (thumb ups). Especially my questions. (Remember that anything that's created by "human being" there's always a way to crack it.

To all users especially "newbies" its important that you read AP frequent questions and answers. The Help link button located in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

I suppose it should be the 3 strikes and your out rule
but with the option for a straight banning if your caught doing something really naughty,

in every walk of life some people will try to find a way to cheat the system, they have too much time on thier hands and not enough compassion for the harder working honest people.
