Adenine is a compound of Carbon, Hydrogen and Nitrogen and is one of 2 purine nucleobases that are used to form nucleotides of the nucleic acid. In DNA, the adenine binds with thymine via 2 hydrogen bonds to assist in stabilizing the nucleic acid structures. In RNA, adenine binds to uracil. RNA is used in the cytoplasm for protien synthesis.
