We couldn't hear the fetal heartbeat, what could cause this?
Asked by: boopster1203 from MCHENRY, IL
I'm 15 weeks along, we heard the heartbeat at 12 weeks. What are some reasons we wouldn't be able to hear the heartbeat?

Whether you actually hear the heartbeat depends partly on luck. The instrument must be placed at just the right angle. It also depends on the position of your uterus, and if you're slim or heavy. The position of the baby may have changed.
On the other hand, with the right instrument, it is about time for you to be able to hear it.

There are many factors such position of the baby, position of the uterus and things like your own HB. They might be trouble hearing the baby. Don't worry it is very early and if you saw it beating on an U/S than you know it is beating.

my doctor could not pick my babies H/B up at that time also. She saied more than likely my placenta was in the way. We found it later though. Do you feel movement? I am sure everything is okay!
