The good bacteria in the septic helps to break everything down and I need to find out how not to kill it. I use Domestos to clean the toilets but it is very strong and will it kill the good bacteria? I have tried to find the answer to this but even the septic tank guys don't know.
When something says that it is an antibacterial and kills 99% of bacteria, that includes the good bacteria too. That is why it is improtant to add the enzyme/bacteria products sold in stores on a regular basis, like the monthly cycle they suggest. Maybe some day we will figure out how to just kill the bad guys!
I don't know if this product is available where you live, but there is an eco-friendly bacteria and enzyme product on the market called Accepta7101. You can check it out on line and see if there's an outlet near where you live that sells it. Or, you can look for a similar type of product with a different brand name.
after reading about the product, i would not ever use it in a septic system. in general if i wouldn't use it on my hands to clean them don't put it down the drain. i feel my hands and dishes are clean from germs with soap and water. and time to dry.
