What person, group or organisation give your country, state or provience a bad name. What have they done that they should be ashamed off and did they affect you personally?
For me its the paramilitary groups that hail from our country and have killed innocent people, that is in the past and progress has been made but they gave our country a bad name. More recently it was a few teenage thugs who carried out attacks on Romanian homes, it made national news and is giving the area of South Belfast a really bad name when it truly is not.http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/

Then not to mention our politicians and their expenses, for those who don't know they were cliaming all sorts of things from the tax payer, from a tin of beans to 2nd homes even to pornographic movies!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7970731.st

and not to mention whose fat cat bankers who put our country in recession, one man lossing billions in the economy then taking a £700,000 pension or $1,156,750.00.http://en.wikipedia.org/wi

It's two words for me, mikester: George Bush. The worst President in American history as far as I'm concerned. Beside the fact that he couldn't pronounce everyday words, he acted like a Dictator more than a President. Have you ever seen the movies Bowling For Columbine or Sicko featuring American Michael Moore? Those say a lot about the condition American was in when Bush ruled. Bush was,in my opinion, a war monger and a cover up artist. He never took responsibility for any wrong doing, and used scare tactics to keep America in fear. The September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Centers and Washington were devestating for the whole country. The fat cats line their pockets, while the average Joe has to decide whether he'll eat this week or pay a fortune for prescriptions! Look at what happened as a result of the crash of our stock markets. It was the worst to hit us since the Great Depression of the 1920's! We're still reeling from that. Big business at it's worst again. I could go on, but I have to tread carefully here, since politics is a sensitive subject. The documentaries made by Michael Moore(who now needs bodyguards for speaking his mind) really tell the story in an unbiased way about what makes American's ashamed to be American sometimes. Another Moore documentary is Farenheight 911, which also tells a lot of wrong doing behind closed doors in our Nation's Capital. Don't get me wrong, I'm a proud American, but our image was twisted as never before when Bush was in office. I have great faith in Obama, our current President. But he has a lot of work ahead of him to undo all of Bush's harm. Here there is hope for our future at last!
If my fiancee actually was interested in this site, I'd turn this question over to him. He has that innate Irish distrust of government and I hear about it every single day! It's not to say that I don't agree with him, but in all seriousness, I'd be doing a doctoral dissertation before I finished with this question!!!
The last couple of presidents, their conduct of destroying the country that they had charge of, and as much of the rest of the world as they could get away with. Of course they affect me personally, all things in this world do, eventually. Their conduct and it's results, will affect many many people, two footed, four footed, winged.. for generations to come..I also think any ONE person or group or organization can give any ONE of our countries, states, or provinces a bad name but the thing is, in most cases, THEY are in the minority, and they don't represent the majority of the people therein.
For the most part, people everywhere are pretty "good". The bad ones get the press. The Media seeks them out
Well it is very political..And because of that we are not allowed to call the Aboriginals Aboriginals any more, we have to call them Indigenous, or otherwise we will get sued!!! But they can and do call themselves aboriginals. They have lied and screwed up this country for everyone. The white lawyers are making a fortune working for the indigenous so they are happy. And the INDIGEONUS are getting everything. You wouldn't believe how much money they get and the story could go on forever. I am not a racist person but there was a black rase in Australia before the Abos arrived and they killed them and ate them and now they are getting all this LAND AND EVERYTHING given to them because they claim they were the first. The government is allowing this to happen and an embarrasment to the country!
Kyle is right, I'd also like to add the republican party, they kept pushing for deregulation. Reagan, Bush 1,and even Clinton all went along with it. Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush 2 (who refused to beleve the fact of globle warming), were horrible for the environment, Clinton was at least good on social issues. The idea that health care should be done for profit is abhorrent to me. Reagon who would not even talk about aids, what a jerk, I'd rant a lot more if I could type and if you knew me you would know.
