If I'm reading you correctly you're asking if a dealership can give another dealership your information and use that to finance a vehicle that you are still making payments on. If I'm reading you correctly you're asking if a dealership can give another dealership your information and use that to finance a vehicle that you are still making payments on. Well the deal is, if you are still making payments on the vehicle it isn't legally owned by you yet. It goes something like when you are renting an apartment from a landlord you know then one day you discover that you have a new landlord. You still live in the same apartment but now under different ownership. Normally when someone is looking for a dealership to finance them a vehicle they never ever read all the words on the agreement. Most of the time when you are trying to get financed you are just so happy to hear that you are getting the car that you just sign everything put in front of you and they make sure they keep pushing papers at you to distract your attention from completely reading over what you are signing. Sometimes even if you do read over everything, they word contracts is such a way where something like that may slip by you. They may have in there something saying, "By signing this you are giving us permission to share your information with our parent companies and partners. You will receive no offers nor advertisements unless solely expressed." You can bury that sentence deep within the customer agreement and it never gets seen. However I might ask them to show me where it says that I gave them permission to share my information. Believe me, more than likely, they will come up with something!!!
