My dogs started digging up my yard

I have 2 dogs that are 1 1/2 yrs old. Just these past couple of days they started digging massive holes all through my yard. I have tried chasing them w/ the garden hose, yelling at them, rub their noses on the ground & smack their rears. They just round about face & start doing it again minutes later. HELP!

They need their own digging spot where they will learn to dig holes without getting into trouble.Encourage them when they use it and scorn if they dig somewhere else. They also need a lot of toys and hide bars to chew on to stop boredom.If the climate is hot they need to have a big hole to lay in and keep cool.

when my dogs started digging i put their poo in the place where they had dug, they didnt dig there again. admittedly they do move to somewhere else to dig, but i repeated with the poo and they got the message and stopped.
