If a doctor suddenly had a heart attack while doing surgery, would the other doctors work on the doctor or the patient?

There is a protocol that covers this. The assistant if competent will continue the procedure if possible. Otherwise he/she will secure all bleeding points and place warm wet packs over the wound until another surgeon (usually the one who is on call) arrives. The circulating nurse will assess the collapsed surgeon and if necessary summon the cardiac arrest team. The anaesthetist's first concern remains with the patient. If the patient is stable he/she may tend to the collapsed surgeon who is now also a patient. A critica...
