How do I eradicate miniature bamboo that has spread?
Asked by: Biggles350 from -
Many years ago, I spuditdly planted miniature bamboo in the garden. Now it has spread even between the slats in the decking. Nothing seems to get rid of it. Tried digging it out - it grew again - tried weed killer - it laughed at it. Tried alsorts. Need some suggestions before it starts creeping towards the house and ruining all the garden.
Any ideas????

Well i like bamboo i wished i had done what you did then i could feed all the pandas in the world!!!! I suggest you get a panda!! lol Ok maybe you just need to smash and uproot all the bamboo!! it would say money!! Another thing you could do is mow or cut the bamboo you don't want like next to your house or deck by using a mower or weed-eater and let the rest grow!! Or you could just use herbicide like my friends here suggested!!

It can sometimes be impossible to get rid of,sorry to say. I would suggest that you let shoots grow to a reasonable size and then a strong, concentrated weed killer on them (roundup)or there are even stronger ones on the market. Some people have tried burning but it is not effective.Keep poisoning and keep digging!
Use the poison neat, don't water down and you can apply it with a small paint brush.good luck....

you are not stupid !!!... I did the same thing, and also tried every known weed killer to no avail. Finally in desperation I contacted a commerial weed exterminator (heaps of them were listed in my local phone book). These registered contractors have access to many other herbacides that are not available to us mere mortals. One treatment sent the bamboo to its maker. Not only did he remove all the bamboo, but he also removed $120 dollars from my wallet for his visit. But it was definitely worth it. Good luck and please l...
