I just broke my glasses and found out it has been over a year and will have to get a new prescription. I was looking on the internet messing around and found out that in the state of Texas that there is no experation date on glasses. All the doctors I have went to has told me a year. It website said to ask the doctor to not put a exp. on the prescription or see if they will make it for 2 years instead of 1. So my question I guess is do many doctors do this?

The Dr. decides how long to make the prescription good for, just like any other prescription medication.
So, If the doctor that gave you your eye exam puts an expiration date of 12 months on the prescription then that's how long it is good for.
I believe you are correct about the state of Texas and all states have different laws regarding this. The original doctor can modify the prescription if they want to do it so they won't lose your business in the future. Anyb...
