I was interviewing for my first consultant post at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. We, the candidates, were kept in isolation throughout the whole process. I thought it was something I had said!
It also happened to be my eighth wedding anniversary. Liz had two bottles of champagne in the fridge, the second being for if I got the job. We drank...

I was working at Corning Glass factory, packing custard cups, while listening to the radio. I thought I was hearing an advertisement for a new movie coming out. When all of us realized what was happening, we were all in shock. It was a very long, scary and stressful workday for everyone

I was watching Fox News. As soon as I saw the second plane approaching, I knew what had happened. I was surprised that it caused the buildings to collapse. Pretty soon the wife got up and asked if anything interesting was going on. I explained that it was going to change things. She said she was sorry she asked.

Well, I was at school in the morning, I think. That's because I was in a different country back then... so there's a difference of around 9 hours in the time zone

I was visiting my daughter in Halifax! Planes were landing at the international airport there all day which had been re-routed from the U.S. Like everyone, my daughter and I watched T.V. all day! She was pregnant with my third grandchild at the time, and I'll never forget her words! "Why am I bringing children into this world?" He was born the following January and is now six! He is a joy! We needed joy!

I was in my office and was the only one in that day. My husband was working out of the house and my two brother-in-laws were in route to Philly. My brother called me with the news and then my sister-in-law called in a panic because her husband was on the road outside NY city and we had no cell phone coverage. I got in my car and came home.... sat in the chair just as the first tower came down before my eyes. I gasp and cried. I remember saying 'OH MY GOD SO MANY PEOPLE JUST LOST THEIR LIFE". The sky was quiet... no...

I was home watching television when my daughter-in-law called me and asked if I was watching what was going on. I wasn't because I was on a channel that hadn't got word yet. She started crying and said that we were being attacked. I tuned to the channel that was showing what was going on and kept her on the phone to try to calm her down. When I saw what was going on, I began crying too and watched all day as it all progressed. What I saw was like a movie, it couldn't be real, not in this country, but it was real and I f...

I was in my office, I herd everybody talking and scare waiting to go home. My sister called from N.Y. very nerves and told me drop everything and tell everybody to go home as if I were the boss. I told my boss I going home. While walking to the parking lot I saw a poor hungry dog, I gave him my lunch. He looked at me like saying what going on, but whatever is happening, I'm going to eat this lunch.

I was walking down the hallway in 5th grade on the way back from music class. All of a sudden we the other 5th grade teacher came out into the hall way and talked to my teacher. You could only hear snippets of the conversation... i personally only heard 'the world is burning'. and of course i scoffed at that notion because I was not on fire, and neither was the rest of my school. so we went into our trailer and my teacher turned on the tv. for the rest of the morning we watched everything, from before the second plane h...

At the time of the 9/11 attacks, I was in elementary school and initially the teachers tried to keep us from finding out about what had occurred. Once with the older kids during lunch, we found out about the attacks in New York City, The Pentagon, and Pennsylvania. At my age, it was something hard to comprehend, but once at home I watched the news and saw the tragedy that had occurred. I can truly say that I will never forget 9/11/2001, and I know that the memories of that day will remain in my mind forever....
