I was given methotrexate for an ectopic pregnancy...
Asked by: LMP0719 from -
I was given methotrexate because the doctor said that I had an ectopic pregnancy and i had to go to the ER and it turns out I don't but I already had the injection if I carry the baby to term what are the chances that it will have birth defects. My levels had gone up in 4 days from 931 to 5000. I really want to keep it but don't want to bring a baby into the world to suffer. Can you please tell me what my odds are for a healthy baby??

An ectopic pregnancy can't survive past a few months! Fertilization takes place in the fallopian tubes instead of the uterus, and as the fetus grows, there is a high risk that the tube will rupture! Try again! Good luck!

Do you mean that you have an intra-uterine and viable pregnancy?
Right. First of all there has been no study in humans on this as to do this study would be highly unethical. The case reports that do exist suggest a malformation risk of about 1 in 5. I attach a paper from the British Journal - Rheumatology.
You poor thing. I am so sorry.
