pet dog travel sickness & stress.
Asked by: glyndwr from -
We have a 2yr old jack russell cross which gets so upset whenever we travel, even short distances. As soon as he gets in the car with me, on my lap at the back, he starts to drool ,soaking two towels on a 80mile long journey. Around an hr into said journey, he throws up. We have bought herbal pills from pets store which have had no affect. We have even stopped to let him out of the car, had the windows open etc to no avail. He drools on short journeys too. He is a rescue dog which we've had for 6mths. Can you help?

I once had a dog in the same situation. We are shifting soon and i am going to the vet to get a sedative for the pets. Herbal is a great way to go but when it comes to travelling sedatives are a must.

Dogs often drool if they are feeling nauseus. It sounds like he is carsick. I would give your vet a call, they should be able to either prescribe him something, or instruct you as to what over the counter drug you can give him and how much. You must be very careful giving pets people medications, but there are some that are safe with your veterinarians instructions on dosage.
