How do I change my password for my POP3 server

When I booted up this morning OE6 wouldn't let me access my mail. For the first time in 5 years my server wanted me to log in and I cannot remember what password I used back then. I have tried rebooting and system restore but I am getting nowhere fast. Can you help please?

Here a few suggestions:
1. Call your ISP. They should be able to reset or tell you what your password is. They will need proof of identity, bill details, acccount information/customer number and maybe answer a security question

If it is in "Linux", put it in characters mode and change to root user. Then, write these to change root's password "passwd"
