Employer deducted a months salary because I resigned without notice

I was working for Nestle. I recently resigned because I couldn't take it anymore and I didnt give them a months notice. They deducted a full months salary from the money [leave days and bonus] they were supposed to pay me. Is this right?

If you are on a salary they can do this you have to give notice. If you are on fortnightly salary they can only take two weeks, monthly salary they can take the month. Are you in a union if you are ask there advise. or go to comsumer affairs on pay rights and conditions.

If it's in your employment agreement that you must give a month's notice before resigning, your employer can legally withhold a month's salary if you leave without giving any notice.

Call your local Labor Board but if I'm reading your posting correctly Nestle may be well within their rights to withhold that money.
