Forced Career Change
Asked by: sam1955 from -
I have worked in the mortgage lending industry for 28 years. My job function for 25 years was an underwriter. As the country now faces a housing crisis (foreclosures) jobs are scarce. I have been unemployed for over a year now and my credit reflects the same, therefore trying to get a job in the real estate lending field has proven to be a hardship if not just about impossible! I have no degree(s) only a Paralegal Certificate which was earned in 1990, however I did not lput my legal training to use due to a financial decline. I need to know what type of work can I transfer my skills (credit analysis, single family property analysis, ability to understand financials such as tax returns (individual and business), detail oriented, computer friendly etc?

Id recommend meeting with a career specialist or recruitment consultant and detail your experience to date as well as education. They would be the best people to assist you in transferring your skills to another sector or what further training or reskilling you need. Best of luck.
