Look for the tax appraisal web site for your area. In Texas we have Central Appraisal District web sites for tax appraisals. You can find a property by searching for the address.

Every county seat courthouse will have a Recorder's office where all property records are kept. Most are computerized and easy to search. Some are online and you can find them with a Google search with the string, "county name, Recorders Office." While doing searches on line is convenient from home you will find doing it in the Recorder's office will yield more accurate results as the clerks are very knowledgeable and can avoid common mistakes non-pros make....
