Warrant issues
|
I am having a problem,I had a transmission installed in my car in june of 07.It was new supposedly. It had leaked a few quarts of fluid over time and I refilled it to level.Well in may of 08 it seemed leak a bit more.So knowing the warranty was almost up I returned to the shop and asked if they could check it out.I left it in shop in june for almost a week and the car continued to leak.I returned in July and they again took the car in without incident and said they fixed the leak.Well the leak worsened dramatically and caused a great deal of slippage I topped off fluids and returned this week, they took in car and said tranny was burned out and they would repair it with no cost of labor but a 1000 dollars for rebuild kit.I am on a disability retirement and this is out of reach for me.I went on line and found these kits for between 100 and 200 dollars. And it could be as little as a 3 dollars clutch in the transmission.Since I brought the car back 3 times under warranty I feel they did not address the problem and the negligent manor in which the car was repaired caused this catastrophic failure any advice??

I would myself report them to the consumer affairs Government, Department under consumers rights that is what we call it here in Australia. Also contact the warranty dept.you are or were with and find out where you stand with them. They may be able to put on the right track.I feel you have been taken for a ride.

You may have a problem proving that the current part failure in your vehicle resulted from their previous shoddy work. If it were me, I would ask them if they would still do the labor if I provided the part myself (if you can manage to find one cheaper.) If they insist on purchasing the part themselves then you know you're being taken advantage of. If you can, talk to an attorney and consider filing a lawsuit. Also, contact the consumer advocate department of your local news media for help. They love to run stories of t...
