how wil i react with my line manager?
Asked by: kaori_81 from -
my line manager is upset and telling me off that i keep on calling sick on the day before the work start (as protocol) and i do not think of my colleague at work.
>i had an wisdom tooth taken out, unfortunately got infected and had a dry socket, this is 10 days ago and the process of healing involve my nerve in my jaw (happened to call emergency NHS dentist, went to A & E, and taking a very strong cocktail of pain killers)
>on my 8th day my dentist have treated my pain and told me that i have to continue taking pain killers as when necessary.
>my line manager flare up after i told her everyday what is happening at first she is happy, put me to sick off. i explained to her i do not know day to day. Unfortunately i feel excruciating pain that drain me off i am not good in doing my work. i even ask my dentist or gp to give a sick note but they said see how you are.
>after taking my pain killers, i tried to wean myself from it, but i have a nauseaous feeling and not right with my stomach and i call on sick again. She flares up that i keep on doing this calling sick the day of work (we do not work weekends, last friday when i saw her handed my s cert. i did not guarantee that i am coming back monday, i hope so, she said well see how you are?) this morning she told me that i am coming back to work monday.
>i really feel so frustrated and my stomach really feels more upset.
>i mentioned to her "do you want me to go back to work, even that i did not optimize my health??"she responded"get me a sick cert today and let me know what happened to your GP" she is so adamant and do not want to listen with my views except that i am off sick again.
>i tried to explained but she just do not want to listen although i am covered with my sick days i feel she had just intimidated me to go back to work, and suffer in silence and get on with things.

Dry socket is not uncommon after an extraction, but taking strong pain killers after the socket has been flushed is not a great idea for any length of time. You may become dependent on these drugs, and the withdrawal causes the nausea! Stop taking them immediately! Your health is not in jeopardy because of the dental work, but it is because of the drugs! You shouldn't need any pain killers at this point other than over-the-counter ones when necessary! I think your line manager realizes this, and you could lose your job ...
