PRICING IN STORES

WHEN I SHOP ALL THE PRICES ARE SHOWN THE FINAL PRICE &
PRICE PER UNIT.THE QUES, IS THE PRICE PER UNIT IS THAT MANDATED BY LAW OR UP TO THE STORE? I NOTICE IN RITE-AID THERE NO UNIT PRICING.BUT RIGHT NEXT STORE IN A FOOD MARKET EVERYTHING IS ALSO SHOWN IN UNIT.EXAMPLE; SO MUCH PER 100 PIECES,PER LB, & SO ON.
