The pinna or visible part of the ear is a helical cartilaginous structure which is covered in skin. It is displaced forwards and slightly downwards so as to collect sound waves and convey them to the external auditory meatus and onwards to the inner ear.
Having two ears on either side of the head allows us to hear in stereo and locate the source of any sound by appropriate movements of the head and neck....
