I have worked with the best vet around and what he has said has fallen true for most of the patients I have seen. When they have been injured, like your puppy, really bad, then they jump and whine when ever you go near them or say their name. Even if you don’t encourage them to get up or fiddle with them, they will cry because they are frustrated that they can’t go anywhere at all. He/she should do fine in surgery, unless bleeding or infection takes over, but not likely to happen.
