You are right. It is a pain, at least sometimes. That is the option I use for both desktop and laptop. Still it often gets out of whack. Then sometimes it takes one click or more to fix it.
Firefox is a little better than IE about this. But even it will sometimes mess up.
One thing you might want to check is the features available for your mouse. Make sure you have these adjusted to your wants. Maybe even a better mous...
