Do I need permission to move out of state with my children?
Asked by: mimi5280 from -
My children's father recently moved out of their lives to another state. If I move I would actually be moving closer to the state he moved to. I just don't feel that I should have to ask permission when he just up and left without even saying good-bye to his kids. I really would appreciate some imput in this matter. Thanks!!!

Notify the courts first, because it's the right thing to do, this will let the courts see that you are a better person than the father you mentioned. Best to you and yours.

If you have sole custody, and the father left the state, you don't need anyone's permission to move. If he is paying maintenance for the children, and visits them, you will have to provide him with your new phone number and address once you get settled.
