Just practical explanation is that, you can't "pass away" the moon like you do to a house on a road side.As it is at a very long distance away, the angle between your eye and the moon remains fairly constant. There would be a very minute change ,but it is not evident to our eyes.Thats why it would appear as if it is following you. :)

The earth is constantly rotating on its' axis, and the moon is doing the same thing, so no matter how far you drive, or how long you drive, the moon seems to stay in the same place! (And, the moon is spying on you to see what you're up to!)

The moon appears to follow you for the same reason a tree in the distance does not "zip" by as does a road sign, parallax. The greater the distance the longer will an object remain in your view. The moon is 250,000 miles away so you would have to drive well beyond earth to put it behind you.

The earth is rotating around the sun and on its axis and so is the moon. It seems as if it is following you are even staying in the same exact spot when really its moving too.

"Moon" seems to follow you when you drive..

The moon-as-stalker illusion is created by the orb's vast distance from Earth: about 238,000 miles (that's about 2.3 million Washington Monuments, stacked on top of each other, if you can wrap your head around that),

According to astronomers, the reason why the Moon and the Sun seem to be following us is because they are so far away. The Moon, for example, is about 240,000 miles away; the Sun about 93 million miles. And no matter how fast we drive, we just can’t pass them.

When you drive by a stand of trees or a series of telephone poles near the road, you pass them very quickly. So you see roadside objects first ahead ...
